Program overview

  • Advanced obstetrics fellowship is a structured postgraduate program for obstetrics and gynaecology trainees who are interested in enhancing their knowledge towards consultant level in obstetrics.

  • The course covers up-to-date practice in management of pregnancy, labour ward, common obstetric disorders, fetal monitoring, and obstetric procedures.

  • On completion of the fellowship, fellows will acquire advanced clinical knowledge and will be able to manage pregnancy and labour at a senior level

Fellowship modules

Introduction

Physiology of pregnancy and labour and minor complaints associated with pregnancy

Pregnancy

Antenatal care

Antenatal care, pregnancy and obesity, vaccines and anti-D administration, and management of common symptoms 

Ultrasound

Early pregnancy

Nausea and vomiting including hyperemesis, bleeding in early pregnancy and ectopic pregnancy

Late pregnancy

Prelabour rupture of membranes, amniotic fluid abnormalities, antepartum hemorrhage and antenatal monitoring

Doctors with Bacteriological Protection Suits

Maternal infection

Group B streptococci in pregnancy, genital herpes in pregnancy and maternal sepsis

Giving Birth

Labour management

Intrapartum management, breech, monitoring, VBAC, induction and management and emergencies

Baby

Postnatal care

Postpartum care, mental health care during and after pregnancy, and thrombo-prophylaxis

Ultrasound

Obstetric ultrasound

First, second, and third trimester ultrasound scans including fetal growth and Dopplers

Obstetric procedures

Cesarean section, episiotomy, instrumental delivery and repair of perineal tears

Final examination

MCQ paper-based exam

The final assessment consists of 2 papers; each contains 60 MCQ questions

Fees are country-based. Please contact

fees for candidates from high income countries are $500. Fees are $350 for intermediate income and $200 for low income countries
